    Project Summary

    “When I Read, I Will Know” is a literacy-focused initiative by Dynamic Works Foundation aimed at fostering a strong reading culture among children and adolescents in underserved communities. By combining access to reading materials, mentorship, and culturally relevant storytelling, the project nurtures literacy skills, critical thinking, and self-expression—laying the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth.

    Project Goal

    To improve literacy rates and promote a culture of reading among children and adolescents in underserved regions, while using stories to instill values, cultural identity, and life skills.


    Objectives

    • To provide consistent access to age-appropriate, culturally relevant reading materials.
    • To establish reading clubs and literacy hubs in schools and communities.
    • To enhance comprehension, public speaking, and self-confidence among participants.
    • To foster pride in Ghanaian cultural heritage through storytelling and indigenous literature.
    • To engage parents and teachers in supporting reading at home and in schools.

    Key Activities

    1. Reading Club Setup
      • Establish reading clubs in target schools and communities across Greater Accra, Oti Region, and Northern Ghana.
      • Clubs meet weekly for guided reading, storytelling, and creative discussions.
    2. “Read Aloud, Speak Aloud” Competitions
      • Organize inter-school reading and public speaking contests to improve fluency and comprehension.
    3. Book Distribution Campaign
      • Provide storybooks, textbooks, and culturally inspired children’s books to schools and club members.
    4. Reading Ambassadors & Mentors
      • Train volunteers and older students as reading ambassadors to mentor younger readers and model positive reading habits.
    5. Storytime with Culture
      • Feature storytelling sessions focused on local folktales, proverbs, and values to strengthen identity and moral development.
    6. Parental Literacy Engagement Workshops
      • Educate parents on how to support their children’s reading journey at home—regardless of their literacy level.
